تزامناً مع إحتفالات مصر والقوات المسلحة بيوم الشهيد والمحارب القديم الذى يوافق التاسع من مارس كل عام ، نظمت جمعية المحاربين القدماء وضحايا الحرب مؤتمراً صحفياً للإعلان عن أنشطة وفعاليات الإحتفال بيوم الشهيد والمحارب القديم لهذا العام .
وخلال وقائع المؤتمر الصحفى أكد اللواء / أحمد حسن أبوشرق مدير جمعية المحاربين القدماء وضحايا الحرب أن إحتفال القوات المسلحة الذى يوافق ذكرى إستشهاد الفريق أول / عبد المنعم رياض يجسد أسمى معانى العطاء والروح الوطنية المخلصة ، وأن تاريخ مصر ملئ بعلامات البطولة والفداء من أبناء مصر الأوفياء المدافعين عن أمنها وسلامتها الذين أضافوا إلى سجل الوطنية المصرية صفحات مجد وفخر ونبراس تهتدى به الأجيال القادمة .
مشيراً إلى أن القيادة العامة للقوات المسلحة تقدم كافة أوجه الرعاية الصحية والرياضية والإجتماعية لأبنائها من أسر الشهداء ومصابى العمليات الحربية عرفاناً وتقديراً لما قدموه من تضحيات ، وأن ذلك الإحتفال يأتى تأكيداً على وفاء القوات المسلحة لشهدائها الأبرار الذين ضحوا بالغالى والنفيس لتبقى راية الوطن عالية خفاقة .

On the Occasion of Martyrs’ Day and Veterans’ Day, The Egyptian Veterans and War Victims Association Holds a Press Conference to Announce a Series of Activities and Events
In conjunction with Egypt’s and the Armed Forces’ celebrations of Martyrs’ and Veterans’ Day, which falls on 9 March each year, the Egyptian Veterans and War Victims Association held a press conference to announce the activities and events planned for this year’s commemoration.
During the press conference, Major General Ahmed Hassan Abu Sharq, Director of the Egyptian Veterans and War Victims Association, affirmed that the Armed Forces’ commemoration—coinciding with the anniversary of the martyrdom of General Abdel Moneim Riad—embodies the highest ideals of sacrifice and sincere patriotism. He noted that Egypt’s history is replete with examples of heroism and self-sacrifice by its loyal sons who defended the nation’s security and stability, adding pages of glory and pride to the record of Egyptian patriotism and providing a guiding beacon for future generations.
He further indicated that the General Command of the Armed Forces provides comprehensive healthcare, sports, and social support to the families of martyrs and those injured in military operations, in recognition and appreciation of the sacrifices they have made.
He stressed that this commemoration reaffirms the Armed Forces’ enduring loyalty to its honorable martyrs who sacrificed what was most precious so that the nation’s flag may continue to fly high.
