أعلن مركز السينما العربية منح الفنان حسين فهمي، رئيس مهرجان القاهرة السينمائي الدولي، جائزة “شخصية العام السينمائية العربية” في دورتها السابعة، تقديرًا لمسيرته الفنية وإسهاماته في المشهد السينمائي إقليميًا ودوليًا.
ومن المقرر أن يتسلم الفنان حسين فهمي التكريم خلال حفل جوائز النقاد للأفلام العربية، المقرر إقامته يوم السبت 16 مايو، من الساعة 5 إلى 7 مساءً في مساحة Plage des Palmes، على هامش فعاليات مهرجان كان السينمائي في دورته التاسعة والسبعين.
يعكس هذا الاختيار الدور المحوري الذي أداه حسين فهمي منذ عودته لرئاسة مهرجان القاهرة السينمائي في عام 2022، ومبادراته لدعم المواهب، والبدء في ترميم كلاسيكيات السينما المصرية، واستعادة حضور الجناح المصري في سوق الأفلام بمهرجان كان. كما أسهم في توسيع أنشطة “أيام القاهرة لصناعة السينما”، وعقد شراكات استراتيجية مع مؤسسات ومهرجانات كبرى في الصين.
تخرج حسين فهمي في المعهد العالي للسينما، ويحمل درجة الماجستير في الإخراج من جامعة كاليفورنيا. يضم رصيده أكثر من 200 عمل فني، وتندرج عدة أفلام من بطولته ضمن قوائم أفضل 100 فيلم مصري. وإلى جانب نشاطه الفني، شغل منصب سفير إقليمي للنوايا الحسنة لبرنامج الأمم المتحدة الإنمائي. واحتفاءً بمسيرته، يتصدر صورة غلاف الإصدار الجديد من مجلة السينما العربية الذي يوزع خلال مهرجان كان.
وقد عبر الفنان حسين فهمي عن سعادته بالتكريم قائلًا: “سعيد بهذا التكريم من مركز السينما العربية، وأثمن جهودهم الواضحة في دعم السينما العربية وتصدير إبداعنا إلى المنصات الدولية. أؤمن تمامًا أن تلك المبادرات هي السبيل لاستعادة مكانة الفن العربي عالميًا، وضمان وصول صوتنا ومواهبنا إلى كل مكان”.
وفي بيان الإعلان عن التكريم أوضح مؤسسا مركز السينما العربية، علاء كركوتي وماهر دياب، أن التكريم يأتي تقديرًا لجهود فهمي المستمرة في الحفاظ على مكانة مصر كمركز محوري لصناعة الأفلام في المنطقة.

تأسّس مهرجان القاهرة السينمائي الدولي عام 1976، ويقام سنويًا تحت رعاية وزارة الثقافة المصرية، وهو يُصنَّف ضمن مهرجانات الفئة A الدولية، ويحمل الاعتماد الرسمي من الاتحاد الدولي لجمعيات منتجي الأفلام (FIAPF)، بوصفه المهرجان الوحيد في العالم العربي وأفريقيا الحاصل على هذا الاعتماد المرموق.

Honoring President of Cairo International Film Festival with Arab Cinema Personality of the Year Award
Arab Cinema Center announced awarding great artist Hussein Fahmy, President of Cairo International Film Festival, the “Arab Cinema Personality of the Year” award in its seventh edition, in recognition of his artistic career and contributions to the cinematic scene regionally and internationally.
Artist Hussein Fahmy is scheduled to receive this honor during the Critics’ Awards for Arab Films ceremony, set to be held on Saturday, May 16, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Plage des Palmes, on the sidelines of the 79th Cannes Film Festival.
This selection reflects the pivotal role Hussein Fahmy has played since his return to the presidency of Cairo International Film Festival in 2022, along with his initiatives to support talents, initiate the restoration of Egyptian cinema classics, and restore the presence of the Egyptian Pavilion at the Cannes Film Market. He also contributed to expanding the activities of “Cairo Industry Days,” and forging strategic partnerships with major institutions and festivals in China.
Hussein Fahmy graduated from the High Cinema Institute and holds a Master’s degree in Directing from the University of California. His repertoire includes over 200 artworks, and several films starring him are listed among the top 100 Egyptian films. Alongside his artistic activity, he served as a Regional Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations Development Programme. In celebration of his career, he graces the cover of the new issue of Arab Cinema Magazine, distributed during Cannes Film Festival.
Expressing his happiness with the honor, artist Hussein Fahmy stated: “I am happy with this honor from Arab Cinema Center, and I value their clear efforts in supporting Arab cinema and exporting our creativity to international platforms. I fully believe these initiatives are the way to restore the global standing of Arab art and ensure our voice and talents reach everywhere.”
In the announcement statement, Arab Cinema Center founders, Alaa Karkouti and Maher Diab, explained that this honor comes in appreciation of Fahmy’s continuous efforts in maintaining Egypt’s position as a pivotal hub for filmmaking in the region.
